Dr. Cook is an Internal Medicine Specialist with over 26 years of medical experience in diverse settings. He graduated as Gold Medalist in medicine from Queen’s University Medical School (1986), and completed his general internal medicine residency training at the University of Toronto (1995) and a Master’s degree in Public Health (Health Promotion Stream) from the University of London (UK) (2006).

Dr. Cook’s medical career has encompassed 20 years in the Canadian Forces Medical Services, retiring in 2003. During his military career he trained in occupational and environmental health, including Diving, Aviation, and Tropical medicine. He had several deployments abroad and also served as the personal physician to several Governor Generals of Canada. He remains a consultant physician, actively involved in research in human performance at Defence Research and Development in Downsview.

Since 2003 Dr. Cook has become known for his work as an executive leader. He was employed as the Associate Medical Director of the Medcan Clinic, and until recently was the Chief Medical Officer of Tailor Medical Clinic. He maintains an ambulatory internal medicine practice at Mount Sinai Hospital, and holds a University of Toronto teaching appointment. He has specific focus and expertise in the areas of preventative health, genomics, metabolic disease including obesity and cardiovascular disease risk management.

Since 2006 he has expanded this health promotion interest to include MindBody and Integrative medicine and is Co-Director of the University of Toronto fourth year science Human Biology Integrative Health Course.
